The idea behind my painting was to illustrate the Myth of Medea, and was influenced by Greek, Sicilian and other art historical elements.
‘The Winged Victory of Samothrace’, to accompany the Nike sculpture in Naxos, on Sicily.
One of the temple ruins is inspired by a vignette made by the Danish illustrator Ib Withen, and the second was taken from a painting by the American artist Roy Lichtenstein.
‘Jason with the Golden Fleece’ is a free interpretation of the masterpiece, known under the same name, by the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
The boat , as well as Mount Etna , were inspired by the work of the Italian painter Valerio Adami.
The red arches on a blue background illustrates the Greek / Roman theatre in Taormina .
The Greek text is a fragment of the word ‘coffee’.
The remainder of the painting is from my own universe.

Here with us again the Danish artist Erik Rasmussen, who honors us with his creation dedicated to the Myth of Medea, Jason and the Argonauts, in our holiday apartment Orpheus.
International merger in working progress!
Erik Rasmussen, nato nel 1943 a Copenaghen, debutta come artista alla Mostra Autunnale “Den Frie” a Copenaghen nel 1966. Iscritto all’albo degli artisti e nel gruppo GYRR, le sue opere sono state acquistate oltre che da numerosi privati, dagli enti artistici del Ny Carlsbergfondet, Statens Kunstfond e Den Svenske Stats Kunstfond.
Riceve anche la sovvenzione dell’Ente Statens Kunstfond. Ha realizzato diverse opere urbane in Danimarca, tra cui l’ippodromo al comune di Tårnby. Il Man-B e W Diesel nel comune di Holeby.
Le “sale” di Roskilde a Roskilde. Il Collegio degli Artigiani, il Bispebjerg Allé, la piscina comunale di Nordfalster, i murales del Politikens Hus a Copenaghen. Skulptur, MultiCenter Syd, Nyøbing F., Skulptur, Nakskov Uddannelsescenter, Skulptur, Masnedø Fort, Vordingborg.
